The journal Art Studies covers issues of art history and theory, primarily in the fields of fine and decorative arts and architecture, as well as issues of aesthetics, philosophy of art, and cultural aspects of art studies. The journal has a 40-year history and a strong scientific tradition. It began publication in 1974 as the almanac Soviet Art Studies by the Soviet Artist publishing house. In 1991, it was renamed Questions of Art Studies, and in 1997, it became the journal Art Studies. Since 1993, this periodical has been published by the State Institute of Art Studies.
